Martha Richardson Fine Art, Boston is pleased to announce the October 7th opening of “The Gateway Invasion,” a collection of paintings, drawings and textiles from 11 talented artists working at Gateway Arts. Since 1973, Gateway Arts, a Vinfen service in Brookline Village, has served as the preeminent studio art center on the East Coast for people with disabilities. Gateway is dedicated to providing individualized, arts-based services to adults with disabilities that will enable them to create meaningful lives and careers in art.
Gallery owner Martha Richardson serves on the Advisory Committee of Gateway and is dedicated to the arts center and its artists. “It is such a pleasure to host this exhibition, to bring 11 talented and creative artists to Newbury Street, and my only regret is that we are unable to show all 100 artists.”
Gateway’s mission as described above is to bring meaningful lives to the artists in their program. However, this mission reaches beyond those gifted artists; the art created at Gateway touches the lives of all who enter its sphere. “Through my involvement with Gateway, my eyes have been opened to new ways of looking at art. I give full credit to the artists of Gateway for this wonderful gift.”
Included in the exhibition are 29 works of art by Amy Caliri. Carmella Salvucci, Gilberto Palacios, Gabriellle Sichel, John Colby, Larry Edmiston, Maria Schlomann, Michael Oliveira, Paul Stevenson, Roger Swike, and Yasmin Arshad. Biographies are available on all 11 artists, but the best way to understand is through seeing and experiencing their work.
