The sitter is the poet, writer, creator and designer Akua Lezli Hope, a close friend of the artist's family from New York. This drawing was created when Lezli visited the Wilsons during her undergraduate years at Williams College. There is another version of this drawing in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
