Note:
The image is a self portrait of the artist. Jan Cox, a founding member of the 'Jeune Peinture Belge' group, was associated with CoBrA and published some of his artwork in the CoBrA magazine. From 1956-1974, Cox was the Head of the Painting Department at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. During his time in Boston, he was close friends with Perry Rathbone and Hanns Swarzenski, both of whose portraits he painted.
