John Wilson was a gifted draftsman, painter, sculptor and printmaker. Recognized for his already advanced drawing talent as a teenager and nurtured by the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Wilson received important awards and won major public art commissions over the course of his career. Wilson’s artistic development and achievements are profoundly intertwined with his compassion for the oppressed and his commitment to social progress. In addition to being a generous member of his community and devoted parent he was an admired teacher of drawing for 25 years as a Professor at Boston University.
